Sunspots: Causes, prevention, and how to get rid of them for good
If you’re starting to notice more and more sunspots on the areas above, chances are, you now want to know more about them. Why are you getting them? And more importantly, how can you get rid of them?
That’s why we’ll cover everything you want to know about these pesky little spots.
First, the main cause of sunspots and why they appear in the first place
Though aging, hormones, and even genetics can play a role, sunspots are basically the result of – you guessed it – many years of being out in the sun. Of course, the more time you spend outside, the more likely you are to develop them.
Ready to get rid of sunspots? Learn about the pigmented lesions laser
There are a range of treatment options such as fading creams and chemical peels, though nothing has shown to be more effective at treating sunspots and discoloration than the pigmented lesions laser. With the laser, only one to three treatments are needed in order to permanently remove sunspots.
Want to prevent future sunspots? It’s easier than you may think
With sun exposure being the main contributor, there’s actually one very simple thing you can do in order to prevent future sunspots from occurring, and that’s to protect yourself from the sun. This means you should avoid the sun when it’s at its strongest (between 10 am and 3 pm), always, always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen of 30 SPF or higher, and finally, wear protective clothing such as a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and a long sleeve shirt while in the sun.
Keep in mind, the last thing you want is to have laser treatments completely remove the sunspots, only to have those spots come right back as a result of not protecting those areas against the sun.
At some point, just about everyone who enjoys time in the sun will develop sunspots. Fortunately, effective laser treatments can quickly restore and greatly enhance your skin’s appearance.
