There are many different types of fillers available. At the Center for Surgical Dermatology, we primarily use hyaluronic acid fillers or poly-L-lactic acid fillers.
This depends on the type of dermal filler used, as well as where it is placed. For instance, we find that dermal fillers injected into locations that involve a lot of movement, such as the lips, don’t last as long as other locations. In general, most dermal fillers can last anywhere from 3 months to over two years.
Dermal fillers can be used to achieve a variety of aesthetic goals, including:

We recommend talking with your provider specifically about your goals and health history. Also, discuss with your provider whether or not you have had a Covid vaccine or are planning to receive the Covid vaccine.
As with any injectable treatment, there are a few side effects to consider. Dermal fillers side effects may include redness, swelling, itching, tenderness, bruising, and pain.
One of our top tips is eating fresh pineapple for a day or two before and after your injection. Pineapple contains an enzyme called bromelain that has been shown to help reduce pain, swelling and bruising.
Additionally, to reduce your side effects risk, we always recommend choosing a licensed provider who has experience administering injectables. The board-certified dermatologists at the Center for Surgical Dermatology are experts in helping our patients achieve exceptional results with dermal fillers!
The cost of dermal fillers depends on the extent of work you’re having done and the filler substance used. Similar to any other cosmetic or aesthetic treatment, the cost will vary from clinic to clinic, but the general rule of thumb is that one dermal filler syringe starts at $500.
