CONSULTATIONS

What is a Skin Care Consultation?

During a skin care consultation, you’ll meet with one of our Board-certified dermatologists or licensed aesthetician to discuss your skin concerns and goals. After a thorough discussion of your concerns and evaluation by our providers, our staff will offer specific skincare routine recommendations to improve the tone, texture, overall appearance, and health of your skin.

We can also recommend cosmetic services, such as Botox, dermal fillers, or chemical peels that you should consider to help you meet your skin goals.

Prevention is best, so always wear an effective sunscreen. The best skincare products for you depend upon your skin type, concerns, and goals. Many of our skincare regimens begin with Retin-A (also known as tretinoin), a topical retinoid. Retin-A is the backbone of our regimens because it helps reduce discoloration, improves skin’s elasticity to eliminate fine lines and wrinkles, and even helps reduce acne breakouts.

A great skincare routine features three simple steps: a gentle cleanser, an appropriate moisturizer, and a broad-spectrum (protects against UVA and UVB rays) sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. If you want to take your routine to the next level, you should consider adding an antioxidant, such as vitamin C, and a retinoid, such as Retin-A.

Focusing on facial care is important as it helps prevent skin cancer on the face, and also helps slow the natural development of fine lines and wrinkles. You can retain your skin’s youthfulness if you spend just a few extra minutes each day on your skincare routine and stop by our office for a cosmetic procedure, such as Botox or a dermal filler, a few times a year.

After a facial, it’s important to stay hydrated to maintain the plump, youthful appearance of the skin. Then, make sure that you’re following your basic, three-step skincare routine (gentle cleanser, appropriate moisturizer, and sunscreen). Our dermatologists and licensed aesthetician will give you other personalized recommendations based on your skin type and goals, so be sure to follow those as well.

Good facial care can have a huge impact on the tone, texture, and overall appearance of your skin. The right mix of active ingredients, combined with daily sunscreen use, can prevent skin cancer and wrinkles before they start!
